NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM CITY OF KISSIMMEE
The City of Kissimmee has been awarded State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program funds from the State of Florida in the amount of $424,326 for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 to provide affordable housing assistance to very low, low and moderate income households in the City of Kissimmee. The City of Kissimmee has allocated Special Needs Program funding in the amount of $90,000 for FY 2016-2017 to be administered to qualified residents. The City of Kissimmee will use at least 20% of the 2016-2017 fiscal year SHIP allocation for special needs households as defined in 420.0004(13), F.S. through an approved strategy prioritizing funding for persons with developmental disabilities as defined in 393.063(9), Florida Statutes, with an emphasis on home modifications including technological enhancements and devices. Special needs groups are as follows: developmentally disabled, elderly, victims of domestic violence, physically disabled, mentally ill, and youth aging out of foster care. Funds awarded will be made to ELIGIBLE residents who submit an application for owner-occupied rehabilitation ONLY. Other housing assistance strategies include purchase assistance for first-time homebuyers and owner-occupied housing rehabilitation. The City currently does not have a waiting list for purchase assistance or full scale housing rehabilitation or special needs rehabilitation/minor home repair services. Applications for the FY 23016-2017 SHIP housing programs will be accepted by appointment ONLY after July 1, 2016 until all available funding has been reserved for eligible applicants.
